2016 Hurricane Predictions – Have a Plan and Be Prepared with Back-Up Power Generators – Wareham, MA

Joseph Coupal - Thursday, June 16, 2016

According to the NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center, the current El Niño is dissipating and forecasts favor a 70% likelihood that La Niña – which favors hurricane activity – will peak in August through October. Of the 10 to 16 named storms this year, the NOAA predicts 4 to 8 of these storms could become a hurricane.

“While seasonal forecasts may vary from year to year – some high, some low – it only takes one storm to significantly disrupt your life,” stated FEMA Deputy Administrator Joseph Nimmich. Preparing for the worst can keep you, your family, and first responders out of harm’s way.”

Create A Disaster Recovery Plan - Sometimes you have to plan for more than yourself. Develop a communication and logistics plan that includes pets and loved ones. In the event of severe weather, you can easily coordinate secure meeting points, identify safe rooms in your home, and organize an alternative, temporary residence.

Prepare Your ‘To Do’ List - Plan now for later. In the thick of chaos, it is hard to remember everything that needs to get done. Create your checklist in advance, and keep it handy.

Survival Packs - Remember access to food, running water and power will be limited-to-none after a hurricane. Think through the impact this will have on you and your family, and stock up on the essentials.

Emergency News - In case the power goes out, plan the resources you will need ahead of time to get your emergency news updates. Keep an emergency contact list and have a battery operated radio on hand. Know best escape routes in your area and prepare a contact list of neighbors with medical training. It may come in handy.

Don’t Wait - If an evacuation order has been issued, don’t wait until it’s too late. Always be open to the fact you might have to leave. Know where the nearest safety shelter is located, and give yourself time to travel (24 to 36 hours). Be off the highway when the storm strikes.

Air-Cooled, Three-Phase Generator for Light Commercial Applications – Wareham, MA

Joseph Coupal - Monday, June 06, 2016

This 14/20 kW air-cooled, three-phase generator provides an economical, space-saving option for small businesses

Kohler Generators has an air-cooled, three-phase generator specifically designed for businesses seeking a more economical, space-saving alternative to traditional liquid-cooled, three-phase generators. The KOHLER 14/20 kW provides award-winning performance and dependability in a smaller, budget-friendly design.

An air-cooled, three-phase generator may be ideal for banks, restaurants, convenience stores and other commercial applications where 20,000 watts or less are needed during power outages. Because the generator is air-cooled, you get all the performance and power of an equivalent liquid-cooled generator in a smaller, more economical package. It’s specifically designed for smaller-sized businesses that want to stay up-and-running during a power outage.

The 14/20 kW generator is powered by a heavy-duty, commercial-grade engine designed for harsh weather conditions and heavy use. The generator starts up within 10 seconds of an outage and can power major systems and appliances in a small business, including: HVAC, lights, security systems, computers, cash registers, coolers and more. Kohler’s exclusive PowerBoost technology provides the necessary power to start large electrical loads without dropping other circuits or systems as they cycle on and off.

The 14/20 kW runs on natural gas or liquid propane, so there’s no need for refueling during a power outage. In addition, the generator can be remotely monitored from a computer, tablet or smartphone. The generator’s compact, corrosion-resistant enclosure blends seamlessly with a building’s exterior while its quiet, neighborhood-friendly operation reduces sound levels similar to a central air conditioning unit.

New Residential or Light Commercial Generator – Wareham, MA

Joseph Coupal - Thursday, June 02, 2016

Exceptionally powerful and incredibly quiet, the 30RCL is designed for larger homes and small businesses

Kohler Generators is introducing a new 30 kW standby generator, designed for large homes and small businesses. The KOHLER 30RCL, which will quickly restore power following an outage, features a robust 1,800-rpm liquid-cooled KOHLER engine and patented noise-reduction technology that keeps sound levels to a minimum.

As people continue to build larger homes, there has been an increased demand for a residential generator of this size. The 30RCL really represents a sweet spot within our existing lineup of automatic backup generators. It’s an ideal size for today’s larger homes and we anticipate homeowners responding strongly to the combination of power and quiet operation that this new model offers.

Designed for whole-house power, the 30RCL will keep major systems and appliances – including HVAC, lights, refrigerators, sump pumps and security systems – running in the event of a power outage. It can also protect sensitive electronics, including smartphones, computers and entertainment systems, due to its outstanding voltage and frequency regulation as well as ultra-low levels of harmonic distortion.

As an added benefit, the 30RCL runs at only 62 decibels during normal operation and 54 decibels during weekly exercise, which is no louder than a typical conversation. While ideal for larger homes, the 30RCL generator can also be specified for light commercial applications, including offices and other small businesses.

Similar to all KOHLER standby generators, the new 30RCL automatically turns on within seconds of a power outage. It runs on self-feeding fuels such as liquid propane (LP) or natural gas, eliminating the need to ever manually refuel the unit. Other features include:
